Connection help & diagnostics

Use desktop Chrome or Edge and open this app in its own tab. The Prolific USB-to-Serial driver must be available. If the port is busy, close any other program using the serial port. Reconnect the cable if the meter turns off.

Linux users: if opening the port fails, add your user to the dialout group with sudo usermod -aG dialout $USER, then log out and back in. For a temporary test, sudo chmod a+rw the device node shown by dmesg.

The connection uses 19200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. The app only sends the download and finish requests from Carsten Presser’s implementation · It does not set the clock or erase readings.

Downloads are checked using a byte-sum checksum: add every byte except the first command byte and the final checksum byte, then take modulo 256. A mismatch prevents the download from being displayed. Device flags are retained without interpreting them.

Google Fit

Upload blood-pressure readings for one selected memory user to your Google account. Only newer readings are synced; existing entries in this app’s Fit source are skipped. Pulse stays in your local history.

Google loads only with your permission. Selected blood-pressure readings are shared with Google only when you click Sync and authorize access.

Connect Google Fit to enable syncing.
Google Fit setup

Check that the timezone matches the meter clock. It is retained after syncing. First sync uploads all saved valid readings for the selected user. Later syncs skip older readings, including backdated imports.

Privacy

Privacy & local storage

Local data

Raw meter captures, readings, preferences and upload checkpoints are stored on this browser and website address until you clear them. They are not uploaded to an app database. Anyone with access to this browser profile may be able to view them. Export CSV to keep a copy of your readings.

Optional Google sharing

Allowing Google Fit permits loading Google’s sign-in service, which receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address. Connecting requests account identity and blood-pressure read/write permissions. Sync sends the selected user’s blood-pressure values, measurement times and device information to Google Fit. Pulse and device flags remain local. The access token and connected account are kept in this tab’s session storage so the connection survives refreshes until the token expires. Disconnecting or withdrawing Google permission clears them.

Your choices and deletion

You can use the reader without Google. Change the Google permission in Settings at any time; withdrawal disconnects this app and stops new requests. It does not delete records already uploaded to Google. Manage those records and revoke account access in Google’s own controls. The hosting provider handles website delivery and may keep access logs. Google handles account sign-in.
